Die NanoGiants Academy e.V. veranstalten bei uns in der Schule einen Workshop zur Vorbereitung für alle Coaches, die an der First Lego League Challenge 2024 teilnehmen. Auch Menschen, die sich dafür interessieren mit einer Gruppe vielleicht in der nächsten Saison zu starten, sind willkomen. Falls du die NanoGiants Academy noch nicht kennst, kannst du auf ihrer Web-Site erfahren, wer sie sind und was sie machen. Die Workshop-Angebote sind mit HANDS on TECHNOLOGY e.V., dem deutschen Ausrichter der First Lego League, abgestimmt.

Ein Jumpstart-Workshop dauert einen ganzen Tag und ist vollgepackt mit Methoden und Tipps vor allem für Coach:innen in der ersten Saison. Da wir großen Wert darauflegen, dass die Teilnehmer:innen selber viel ausprobieren und dass ein reger Austausch zwischen den Teilnehmer:innen stattfindet, ist die Teilnehmeranzahl auf 9 begrenzt.

Wir begrüßen ganz herzlich alle Ersties und Queries mit ihren Eltern und Bezugsmenschen, die in diesem Schuljahr neu an unserer Schule gestartet sind. Herzlich Willkommen! Wir freuen uns, dass ihr nun Teil unserer Schulgemeinschaft seid!

Am Dienstag den 16. Mai sind Eltern aus dem Bibliotheksteam mit den Ersties und diesjährigen Queries der Grundschule nach Lüchow zur Bibliothek gefahren. Morgens um 8:30 Uhr sind wir gemeinsam mit den Fahrrädern gestartet und haben unterwegs noch die ein oder andere Verkehrsregel gelernt.

In der Bibliothek angekommen haben wir mit einem kleinen Frühstückskreis gestartet. Frau Hinz aus der Bibliothek hat uns währendessen die Geschichte vom Löwen in der Bibliothek vorgelesen. Anschließend gab es eine kleine Ralley durchs Haus, bei der die Kinder braune Päckchen finden mussten. Manche waren wirklich schwer zu finden aber bis auf eines waren schlußendlich dann alle da und wurden auch sogleich ausgepackt. Dabei kamen verschiedene Dinge zum Vorschein, die uns etwas über die Bibliothek erzählen. Zum Beispiel, dass man dort neben Büchern auch CDs, Filme, Spiele und Zeitschriften ausleihen kann und dass es sogar eine Kaffee-Ecke gibt. Auch die Regeln die in der Bibliothek gelten und was es braucht, damit jemand Medien ausleihen kann, war danach auf jeden Fall klarer. Zum Abschluss durfen alle noch einige Zeit in der Bibliothek stöbern und spielen und dann ging es auch schon mit den Fahrrädern zurück nach Lüchow. Die Sonne hat uns dabei begleitet und uns den scharfen Gegenwind versüßt. Am Ende waren alle glücklich aber müde wieder zurück an der Schule.

Wir hoffen, dass alle Kinder bald ganz fleißig auch in der Bibliothek in Lüchow oder Dannenberg zu Gast sind und freuen uns schon auf den Ausflug im nächsten Schuljahr mit den neuen Ersties!

Der Beitrag Fahrradausflug in die Bibliothek Lüchow erschien zuerst auf Freie Schule Wendland.

Am Sonntag den 16. April 2023 hat die Schulbibliothek zu einem Spielenachmittag eingeladen. In der Aula waren viele verschiedene Gesellschaftsspiele, Kartenspiele und andere ausgestellt. So konnte jede*r das richtige Spiel für sich finden. An den verschiedenen Tischen in der Aula fanden sich schnell auch die passenden Spielpartner*innen und schon ging es los. Kinder und Erwachsene hatten zusammen einen richtigen tollen Nachmittag und so manche*r wird sich wohl noch ein neues Spiel für zu Hause anschaffen 😉 Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Spielenachmittag mit euch!

Der Beitrag Samstag 6. Mai 2023 – Tag der offenen Tür erschien zuerst auf Freie Schule Wendland.

Das Bibliotheksteam der Freien Schule Wendland freut sich sehr über die Zusage einer Förderung vom Verein Spiel des Jahres e. V. Die Förderung dient dem Aufbau einer neuen Spielsammlung an unserer Schule. Diese können wir dann intensiv in der Angebotszeit nutzen oder die Spiele können auch Montags bei Arne für eine Woche ausgeliehen und dann zu Hause mit der ganzen Familie gespielt werden.

Damit wir alle in der Schulgemeinschat die neue Spielesammlung auch mal gemeinsam nutzen können, wird das Bibliotheksteam zukünftig Spielenachmittage veranstalten. Der erste Termin wird Sonntag der 16. April 2023 von 14 – 17 Uhr sein. Wir freuen uns auf euch und einen spannenden gemeinsamen Spielenachmittag!

Der Beitrag Spiel des Jahres – Förderung erschien zuerst auf Freie Schule Wendland.

On Wednesday mornings, I make sports offer to children of the Mittelstuffe in two groups of about 9-10 children. My intitial sports’ offers were limited to teaching children a variety of skipping and juggling techniques which they could try out either individually, in pairs or as a group. My motivation was to build hand eye coordination, stamina, concentration, flexibility and most importantly making them work together as group. I strongly believe physical education is an excellent way to channelise one’s energy and develop physical capabilties as well as finer qualities. Gradually, I also introduced various other exercises in the form of games where children learnt to observe the movement of the ball, improved their aiming as well as dribling skills. At first I thought it would be difficult for me to ensure that children remained concentrated in the activities, however, I was quite overwhelmed to see the interest with which they participated and their ability to remain focused for a prolonged time.

On Wednesday afternoons, Falko and I take sports lessons for children of the Mittelstufe. The pictures shared on this page are of an activity we planned for children known as the North Pole Expedition. Two teams were formed with the objective of the activity being that children worked together as a group and successfully crossed over all the obstacles and completed the circuit as a team. As an observer, I found it very interesting to see how children strategised together and worked together as a team.

Generally on Wednesdays, we make children do gymnastics and introduce various kinds of team games. Although we have limited time at the sports ground in Luchow, we try to make the best use of all the resources which are available to our disposal and try to introduce various kinds of physical education activities. Its heartening for me to see how some children have developed in confidence over the last 6 months and the enthousiasm with which they partake in the activities.

On Mondays, I make science offers to children of the Mittelstuffe in the Nawi. We have been exploring various experiments on concepts such as sound, light, force, magnetism, elasticity and colour spectrum. Generally, I show them a video to introduce the concept at a very basic level and then we follow the instructions or watch a video on how to do the experiemnt. I try to choose simple science experiments which children themselves can try out, demonstrate it to their friends at the school and eventually take it home. My motivation behind doing these science experiments was to arouse interest in children towards science. I used a particular website called toysfromthrash because I found that the experiements were explained in a simple and fun manner while using reusable objects from the surroundings. 

On Fridays, I make an offer to help children improve their typing skills using 10 fingers. More than 20 children actively participate in the lessons and have already made good progress. During freie arbeit, I observed children using two fingers to type on the keyboard. This pushed me to look for a program which would help children master the technique of how to type using 10 fingers. The benefits are not apparent to many children today but I hope their efforts will make them realise its utility in the near future.

Christmas Celebrations in Freieschule Wendland

The learning companions in the Mittelstufe organised the Advent’s Calendar to count the days of Advent in anticipation to the celebration of Christmas. The children were required to put a candy or chocolate not exceeding 50 cents into one of the 24 socks. Each socks represented a day starting from the 1st of December leading all the way up to the Christmas eve. With the starting of the countdown, every school day a child was nominated across both the blue and yellow groups through a lottery system to unveil the gifts hidden in the socks before others in the class.

The children of the mittelstufe came together to celebrate Advent Spiral which symbolizes finding light in the darkness. The children were made to sit all around the spiral and one child at a time came to the centre of the spiral with their candle to light it from the big candle. After lighting the candles, children placed theirs along the spiral. A silent activity which helped children be in the present moment and feel the positivity and life energy as a group together.

The learning companions in the Mittelstufe organised a variety of offers in the weeks leading to Christmas. Other than preparing stars with paper, using beads to prepare garlands, baking butter Plaetzchen, celebrating Advent’s calendar and spiral, some of the children also prepared a candle stand with wood. The children worked hard to cut the wood and give it a star shape and they sandpapered it thoroughly for a smooth finish. It was very impressive to see the children who are not so used to working with wood prepare the candle stand quite independently and give it a near professional finish.

Just about a week before the Christmas celebrations, all the children from the Mittelstufe were given the possibility to prepare Butter Plaetzchen with the support of one of the parents at the school. The children wholeheartedly participated in the process right from preparing the dough, to flattening it and giving it different shapes to finally garnishing the Christmas cookies using chocolate and various other toppings. Once they were ready, they were packed into little plastic sachets and sold by children of the Mittelstufe at the Christmas Bazaar held in school. The images below will give you an idea of the step-by-step process which was followed to make the delicious Plaetzchen.
